Pointing To Jesus
|Son Light and Your Walk|
The moon exists in darkness and by itself, you cannot see it. But when the light of the *sun hits it, it shines bright!
*When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12
*I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness. John 12:46
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 1Peter 2:9
(without the light of the Sun (SON) the moon exists in darkness)
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Acts 26:18
You, O LORD , keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. Psalm 18:28
You are my lamp, O LORD ; the LORD turns my darkness into light. 2Samuel 22:29
Look into your yard or just outside at night when the moon isnít shining. You cannot tell what is lurking in the darkness. Then look at that same place during a full moon and everything that was hidden in the darkness is exposed!
Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. John 3:20
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: "Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." Ephesians 5:8-14
The moon has cycles and we have what is referred to as ďseasonsĒ in our walk. When the moon is close to the sun, it shines bright. But notice as the moon gradually moves away from the sun, it begins to lose itís light. At one point, you cannot see the moon because it is totally away from the sun and itís light. When we first came to the SON, we shined bright! Do you remember? The writer of Hebrews says this: But recall the former days in which, after you were illuminated Hebrews 10:32a (Greek definition for illuminated is: to give light, to shine to enlighten, light up, illumine) Sometimes during our walk through the seasons of life we tend to stray away from the SON. When this happens, we begin to lose our light. The further away we go, the dimmer we become. Have you ever been in a place when you felt that your light wasnít shining at all? Well I sure have. The awesome part of this example is that eventually the moon comes back to the light, it just takes some time. So if we wait patiently, the SON will give us light again! When it looks like the enemy will take over, when it appears that you are over powered, look onto the Lord and He will hear you! Therefore I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God will hear me. Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, The Lord will be a light to me. Micah 7:7-8 Looking at the cycle of the moon gives us hope through those periods in our walk when we struggle. Could it be that these are necessary seasons ultimately for our spiritual growth? Remember; the moon will shine bright again, the moon will once again get closer to the sun.
Now check this out, letís throw the earth or shall I say world into the equation. There are certain times when the world gradually comes in between the sun and the moon. Slowly and oh so gradual the world moves more and the light from the sun gets blocked more and more, and the moon begins losing itís light. Then finally we have a lunar eclipse and the world has blocked all the light to the moon. So the moon shines no more. Does this sound familiar? There are times in our walk when we let the world get between the SON and ourselves, then we lose our light. But when we acknowledge this, hang in there and wait on the Lord, the world will slowly go on by and our light will slowly increase. That is easy to say, but when you are there, it is so hard. Yes it is, but if we get into Godís word during these times He will show us things like: Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. 1John 5:5 According to this scripture, if we believe that Jesus is the Son of God, then we will be able to hang on until the world slips on by and the light gets stronger. This next scripture is powerful: for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 1John 5:4 So when the temptations of the world get overwhelming and you feel your light fading. Remember, you are born of God and have overcome the world. So at that point just hold on and let it pass by, and YOU shall shine again!.
