  As I study the book of Psalms, God has shown me something simple, yet oh so important!!!
Let’s slowly walk through Psalm 77:7-13.
This Psalm was written by Asaph, a choir director in the time of David and Solomon (I Chronicles 16:4-5; II Chronicles 5:12)
This Psalm was written ca. 980-940 B.C. He was close to God as any genuine worship leader would be.
7: "Will the Lord reject forever? Will he never show his favor again?
Looks like Asaph is losing his focus on God and letting the wall of circumstance grow right between him and God. (We’ve all been there) Let’s read on; in verse eight we see his doubt apparently growing:
8: Has his unfailing love vanished forever? Has his promise failed for all time?
How many times have you not felt God’s presence and wondered why? During those tough times when everything is going wrong, our prayers seem go unanswered and we say; “God!! Where are You? Have You given up on me?” I know I have sure done that before. We crack the door, and satan jumps in filling our minds with doubt!! Asaph with His close relationship with God was still vulnerable to satan’s attacks when he let’s his guard down.
9: Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has he in anger withheld his compassion?" Selah
Hebrew Defintion: ñìä selâh seh'-law
suspension (of music), that is, pause: - Selah.
Satan keeps on filling his head with doubt. So what can Asaph do to combat this? He’ll tell us in verses ten thru fourteen;
10: Then I thought, "To this I will appeal: the years of the right hand of the Most High."
11: I will remember the deeds of the LORD ; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.

WOW!!!!!! Do you see this?? He couldn’t feel or see God’s presence, satan jumped in with plenty of doubt. Then Asaph reaches deep in his pocket and brings out that weapon that God has armed every one of us with: “Testimonies of what God has done in the past!!!” Yes that’s right, God has manifested Himself to all of us in the past, so we can look back and “know” God will never forsake us, God would never go against His word, He is the same yesterday, today, and forever! (Hebrews 13:8)
Take a minute and look back in your Christian life; What has God done? It would be a good idea for us to keep a journal of the things God does for us and the people around us to look back on during the trips through the valleys.
Let’s look at verses 12-14:
12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.
13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God? 14 You are the God who performs miracles;

He started focusing on what God had done in the past and what happened? Well his mind (the battle ground for satan) began to fill with thoughts of God and His Word, pushing out the doubt that satan put in there!!!!
How did he do this? Meditating on all God’s works! Yep, remembering what He did for you in the past and studying His word and meditating on ALL His works which are written in the bible. I hope you can see this!!! Once His mind was filled with God, there was no room for satan’s lies!!! PRAISE GOD!!! Keep our minds focused on God, and we “can’t” lose! The more we keep our minds full of God, through studying His word, prayer, music, fellowship, sharing Jesus with others, the less room for the devil and his lies!
When we are discouraged and feel as if God has left or is not answering needed prayers: “Don’t Forget!” what He has done for you, this will trigger you to focus on Him and fill your head with God leaving no room for the devil and his lies!
