Pointing To Jesus
|Known By Our Fruit|
First of all, let’s list the fruits we are talking about. We can find them in
They are: love, joy, peace, longsuffering (or patience), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
At times Christians feel like failures because these fruits are not “all” evident in their lives. I am here to tell you that we “all” can have these fruits evident in our lives and not have to focus on them. How could we do this? I’m glad you asked. Okay, what if I told you that though there are nine fruits listed in the bible, I believe there is only one? But Jack! The bible is clear! You know you are not suppose to take away from the bible! Well let me explain myself, and then sum up your own conclusions.
In Matthew 22:37-40, Jesus sums up the Ten Commandments with two statements.
1)You shall love the Lord God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 2)You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
Then in verse forty He says: “on these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul dedicates an entire chapter on love. Jesus died on the cross for all of us because of love. And of course God is love. What does this have to do with the fruit of the Spirit? Well let’s take the first fruit listed, which is love and walk through the rest with this “love” mindset.
2)Joy: is love singing
3)Peace: is love resting
4)Longsuffering (or patience) is love enduring
5)Kindness: is love in action
6)Goodness: is love’s character
7)Faithfulness: is love’s habit
8)Gentleness: is love’s touch
9)Self-Control: Is love holding the reigns
So my thoughts are that if you have the love of Jesus in your heart, then you have all the fruits of the Spirit. You have to activate them and and watch what love does with them! So in closing, there is only one fruit of the Spirit with many qualities. That fruit is LOVE
Have you seen any of them?
